Anxiety, Stress, Insomnia & Hypertension
Given everything going on in the world, it is normal to feel overwhelmed, worried, fearful and even helpless. The goal of this workshop is to help you manage your reactions to anxiety and stress through increased self-regulation, which is related to regulating the autonomic nervous system.
Genetic, environmental, psychological, and developmental factors contribute to anxiety, as well as stress and trauma, all of which can trigger a wide range of physical and psychological symptoms. Whether you are aware of your stresses or not, they can take a heavy toll on the body, mind and spirit.
This three-week workshop will help you identify and manage your stressors by using Iyengar yoga therapy techniques. Each week we will work progressively with a variety of yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation to self-regulate. You will also learn other tools for managing stress and anxiety, grounded in a working knowledge of anatomy, psychology and philosophy. By using active and restorative poses as well as meditation practices, you will learn what works best for you and how to incorporate these new healing practices into daily life.
